THE LIFE COACHING MODEL
Our model of Life Coaching helps you deal with life changes, gain control of your life and helps you reinvent yourself as often as life changes require us to. There are basically three pillars of the Life Coaching model based upon 1) meaning and values, 2) the principles of empowerment and leadership, eventually culminating in 3) an action plan. The purpose of our model is to facilitate your work in making you the leader of your life and having you enthusiastically follow your own authentic leadership.

MEANING AND VALUES
Research has shown that lives and activities centered on meaning and values, lives lived with a purpose, are not as affected by drugs, alcohol, meaningless relationships, and dissatisfied work lives. The first foundation of our model is based on discovering what is meaningful and valuable in your life. This exercise is hard work, the hard work done by you. Our role is to help you discover those meanings and values, determining which meanings and values are most important to establish priorities. We will then work with you to establish meaningful life goals that are authentically aligned with your personal values.
To be empowered is to understand your ability to achieve those desired outcomes in your life with the strength and confidence to pursue them. Research has shown that those who feel empowered are more able to achieve those desired outcomes. The second foundation of our model is based on helping you empower yourself, and to develop a plan to achieve those desired outcomes. We use a proven instrument to establish your baseline sense of empowerment and to explore ways to work with you to increase it.
‘For Heidegger, authentic existence begins from self-understanding.’ If we understand ourselves in a genuine, authentic way, then we can lead others. If we understand ourselves in this way, we can be authentic followers as well. We must understand both how we lead and how we follow because we are going to lead ourselves through this process. Our model recognizes that there are no leaders without followers and if we are to be successful in coaching ourselves to create a new you, we must be authentic leaders of ourselves and our lives, to become willing and enthusiastic followers of our own leadership. We must be authentic. That authenticity means that we must be honest with ourselves and learn to trust in what gives meaning and value to our lives.
As we all can imagine, none of this hard work will mean anything without a solid action plan to achieve those goals. We work with you to help you establish those goals, to work toward those goals, to monitor your progress and to help keep you on track.
THE WORK YOU HAVE TO DO
This model is simple, unique and comprehensive. It does, however require work. If it did not require work, it would not be authentic. More importantly, it would not be of any value to you. Your role is to do the work required to create a newer, better version of yourself, to lead yourself and to follow yourself authentically, and to know that you have been honest to yourself with the data to prove it.
We will take an empowerment assessment in order to establish an empowerment baseline. We will also use that baseline to determine what types of work we may need to do with regards to increasing your sense of empowerment.
Meaning and Purposeful Goals
An important part of our work is to facilitate your work in establishing purposeful goals in alignment with your values and what gives meaning to your life:
- assessing one's life purpose
- awareness of your values
- determining what your values give to the world
- determining what your values take from the world
- determining values, beliefs, and attitudes
- determining priorities and values
- establishing your goals
- immediate goals
- short term goals
- intermediate goals
- long term goals
- alignment of goals, purpose, and values
Part of what we must do in creating a newer better version of you is to determine what type of leader/follower you are. This baseline data will help us determine how we can learn to lead ourselves and how to establish ourselves as the most enthusiastic followers of our own leadership.
All of your hard work must result in an effective action plan where we establish specific goals and continually monitor progress toward those goals. This part of our Life Coaching model is the most significant and self-directed part of the process. Our role allows you to move toward your own goals based on hard data at your own self-determined pace, in your own time. We work with you to help determine the steps that must be taken to help you reach these goals.
